NEWSLETTER 10, Last chance to take part in New Powers Survey
I hope you’re all enjoying the beautiful weather, even though we are now getting some much-needed rain.
The Scotland-wide New Powers Survey draws to a close in mid-August. The results have been extremely interesting so far, with some people expressing strong support for new powers for their community councils, while others have been less than keen on the idea.
Anyway, I just thought I’d send out a quick reminder that now is the last chance to take part. Also, for those community councils who have already signed up, you only have a few weeks to gather more responses in your local community.
Lastly (and please don’t get upset with a little criticism), several community councils who asked to take part have had very few responses, and in some cases none at all. I’m not sure why, but it seems that publicity is not among their greatest strengths. Perhaps this is another reason why Scotland’s community councils should have funding to pay for professional admin support of the sort enjoyed by England’s parish councils.
So, to summarise:
- If your community council has not yet signed up to take part, let me know urgently and I will set up the necessary questionnaire for you to publicise locally.
- If your community council has few or no responses yet, now is the perfect time for a final publicity push (e.g. via Facebook/mailing list).
I don’t know about you, but I’m really looking forward to collating and publishing the final results.
