Welcome to Scotland's community councillors chewin' the fat. This website aims to help community councillors around Scotland to talk to each other. At the moment we have a Facebook group with more than 300 members. This is a general discussion board.

We also have a group that is open to anyone who is interested in the work of community councils - Join the Craik with Scotland's Community Councillors
. This is also ideal for community councillors who want to reach out to the wider world.

More recently (Nov 2025) we set up a Facebook group solely for the purpose of discussing the lack of decision-making powers of community councils and what can be done about it - 'New Powers for Community Councils?'.

Background
Currently there are around 1,200 active community councils in Scotland, out of a possible 1,369 community council areas (some of which represent several communities within their boundary). They are the third tier of Scottish democracy - the tier that reaches deep down to the grass roots of community life and gives our democracy the strong foundations it needs.
